Here’s some information for you.

Active Union members are the heart of the Labor Movement. With your help, we can move mountains; without your help, we are powerless. It is the responsibility of each and every Union member to take an active part in their Local, everyone must be willing to invest a part of themselves. Don’t ask “How strong is the Union?” ask “How strong our we?” The Union is NOT a handful of people on an executive board; the Union is each and every one of us. WE have the power. If you see our Union moving in a direction, or taking action that you do not agree with; you need to GET INVOLVED! One dedicated person can make a difference!

So, at this point, your motivated and you want to get involved; but your not sure how. Well, first thing is, attend your districts Union meetings; ask questions and learn. Become active in your workplace, be outspoken in the defense of your Union Brothers and Sisters and our contract. Stick up for one another, UNITE!

Interested in being a Union Rep? Anyone can become a Rep, regardless of age or service. There are only two restrictions, you must be motivated and your heart has to be in the right place. During the next election cycle, run for a Reps position; already have a rep in your district, run anyway. The more people we have wanting to take an active part, the better of we will be. Is there a vacancy for Union rep in your district? Contact your regional director and ask to be appointed!

Interested in being a Director? Run for it, as stated above, the more people that are involved the better of we will be. Interested in any position on our Executive board? RUN FOR IT! I reiterate, the more people that we have involved, the better off we will be, and the STRONGER we will be!
